ADVICE ON PATIENT MANAGEMENT AND EDUCATION Therapeutics before and after surgery can enhance your patients outcomes. The formulary for laser– assisted in situ keratomileusis (LASIK) includes relatively few medications, but theyre very important. Taken preoperatively, they can prevent problems later. Postoperatively, they can treat complications such as diffuse lamellar keratitis (DLK). Here, Ill tell you what the important drugs are and when to use them.
Business Editors Lasik Vision Corporation (CDNX:LSK.)(LasikVision), announced today that it has filed a Statement of Defence and Counter Claim with respect of the allegations set forth in the lawsuit filed on August 18, 2000 by Michael Henderson in the Supreme Court of British Columbia. The Company sees no foundation or merit in this complaint and will defend this lawsuit diligently and aggressively.
The procedure isnt for everyone; for example, its not approved for the extremely nearsighted. But if a patient qualifies for wavefront LASIK, they have a higher likelihood of having better night vision and of getting 20/20 uncorrected vision, says James Salz, M.D., a Los Angeles ophthalmologist and spokesman for the American Academy of Ophthalmology.–K.D.

By Fae Redding Creativity is vital in people becoming all they can be, says Mickey Burns. Burns is what I consider a life coach, someone who encourages you to be the best you can be and teach you to make the changes necessary to accomplish that elusive be.
LIFE isnt easy. It may sound pat, but its true. So therefore its a bit surprising that more of us dont have life coaches to guide us through the complex maze that is modern-day living. For those unfamiliar with a concept which is more common in America than it is in the UK, a “life coach” could be seen as the friend who always encourages you - a cross between a mentor and a practical adviser. OK, so you pay them for their advice, but they do always have your best interests at heart. For Fiona Reed, an Edinburgh-based coach who has been helping clients for almost two years, her role usually sees her operating as a “friend” with no vested interest and a pro-active approach to lifes problems. Forget psychiatrists and psychotherapists (after all, you know you cant blame your mother for absolutely everything), life coaching involves a positive approach to those issues in a persons life that require practical change.

Domestic commercial banks reported a further easing of lending standards and terms for commercial and industrial (CI) loans and commercial real estate loans during the prior three months. At U.S. branches and agencies of foreign banks, in contrast, lending standards and terms for these types of loans were little changed during the same period. On net, domestic banks experienced stronger demand for CI loans during the past three months, while foreign institutions indicated that demand for business loans was about unchanged. Both domestic and foreign institutions reported stronger demand for commercial real estate loans, on balance. A notable net fraction of domestic respondents reported stronger demand for loans to purchase homes during the past three months, while a small net percentage of banks also experienced a strengthening in demand for consumer loans. On net, credit standards for residential mortgages and consumer loans were about unchanged in the July survey, but a significant proportion of respondents indicated increased willingness to make consumer installment loans.
Local lenders for Washington Mutual Inc. have landed at other companies after the struggling Seattle-based mortgage company said it was closing four offices in Central Pennsylvania. Nationwide, Washington Mutual is closing 100 mortgage offices and laying off 2,500 workers in 17 states. Eighteen were employed in Central Pennsylvania. The company also is shutting down 53 commercial bank branches, idling another 850 workers. None of those branches are in Pennsylvania. Coyne suspected layoffs were on the way, given turmoil in upper management and the slowdown in the mortgage market. Nonetheless, he was surprised by the speed. “They told us we were going to go dark on Monday (July 28),” Coyne said.

Browse design books for planting plans and garden layouts. Then draw up a schedule. You need to do all the major building work before planting borders - lighting and water supplies will need to be installed at this stage. Next, aim to lay a new lawn on a level site that is free of weeds and stones. Buy quality turf and have the site ready for laying as soon as the grass is delivered. With the foundations of the garden in place, earmark spaces for putting in the features. Finally, schedule a weekend to prepare the flower beds. but before buying plants, test the acidity of your soil so you know which plants will thrive. Finally, seek further advice on suitable plants from the staff at your local garden centre.
The allure of car design is captured in a fine way by Jonathan Bell in Concept Car Design: Driving the Dream (RotoVision; $35). This is a sumptuous, well-designed (go Figure) tome that looks at how the work is done (Face it: enjoyable though if may be, if is still work), then looks at concept vehicles and designers who bring these dream cars to life. Although the book can be paged through simply for the gorgeous photographs printed on heavy, quality paper stock [the captions are printed in type smaller than the one print on the contract for a Faustian car lease], Jackson does provide some interesting observations in the main body text, such as, when describing how the past is often prelude to concepts to come, he writes: The hermetic world of the motor industry, from education through to career, coupled with the tangled web of allegiances, technology partnerships, and ownerships that characterize the modern industry, also makes self-reference inevitable. I couldnt have said it better myself–GSV

marketing articles
August 20th, 2008
A review of the marketing literature in both the traditional (offline) and new era (online) environments was undertaken to compare and contrast marketings role in both types of organisation. Insights derived from this review formed the basis for a series of in-depth interviews with leading marketing professionals in Ireland. The paper draws conclusions regarding the overall effect of the Internet on marketing. In particular it notes that, while marketing has evolved into an all-encompassing role in the organisation, the marketer remains the focal actor. The paper looks to a future with two distinct kinds of marketer and highlights the importance of retaining the traditional commitments of marketing practice. The Internet is a significant global medium for communications, content and commerce. It is a powerful tool for building relationships with all of a companys communication targets. It is cheap, immediate and repeatable. With appropriate technology it can be personalised and is measurable. Building one-to-one relationships with customers online provides marketers with the ability to cut through the clutter that is characteristic of traditional marketing activities such as TV/radio and newspaper advertising, PR and outdoor, ambient media.
EXECUTIVE SUMMARY: The Internet presents both opportunities and challenges for marketers of healthcare products. An advocate for the medium argues for its increasing value in a comprehensive media mix, offers advice on how to make programs more productive, and cautions on Internet pitfalls. A similar, dramatic increase is occurring in Internet advertising. For all industries, including pharmaceuticals, total 1997 online revenues reached $1 billion. The Internet Advertising Bureau projects this figure rising to $2 billion in 1998, $5 billion in the year 2000, and $9 billion by 2002.
At the beginning of this century, a new advertising industry came of age in the United States. Now, at the turn of the twenty-first century, new global media and audiences are reshaping this industry and the advertising we see. The next frontier is worldwide, and the new media are as open-ended as cyberspace. The tremendous growth of the Internet as an advertising medium has been widely documented in a variety of published articles and reports. Although advertisers still invest more than 45 percent of their media budget in newspaper and television, the Internet Advertising Bureau (IAB) estimates that more than $900 million was spent on Internet advertising in 1997 and projects that the end-of-year figures for 1998 will show an expenditure of at least $2 billion. Business Week predicts that ad spending on the Internet will be close to $8 billion by 2002.1 One important reason why revenue is increasing at such a rapid rate is that many ol the more established and popular Web sites are charging more for their ads. In general, advertisers pay for their ads on a “cost per thousand” (CPM) basis, i.e., advertisers pay a fee for every thousand times their ad is viewed. CPM rates for television range from $5 to $6 per thousand. Compare this tc Web site charges: the average cost for banner ads is $17, but more popular sites can charge a premium of $20 to $22 per thousand for access to their visitors. Advertisers pay more for Internet ads because these sites can deliver a more targeted audience.

Bionaire Cool Mist
August 20th, 2008
Results were mixed in 1993 in the small applicance business at drug stores, with the humidifier and vaporizer segment performing well and hair care appliances showing little growth. Although theyre smaller segements, dental applicances and massagers also did well, retailers reported. Our humidifier and vaporizer business was up by double digits, store for store, confirmed Andy Striefel, vice president of merchandise purchasing for Wilsonville, Ore.-based PayLess Drug Stores. The cough and cold season started early. We were scrambling–everything we expected to sell by the end of December, we sold by mid-November. Of the total category, executives reported that the evaporative, or cool mist, segment grew the fastest at drug stores-by as much as 30 percent. They said this was largely because of the products relatively low price pint–less than $50, as opposed to warm-mist humidifers, which can retail for $129 or more. Said Tom Keyser, vice president of sales for Bionaire: When it gets cold and you havent yet bought a humidifier, youd sooner put down $40 or $50 than over $100.

Two of Virginias neighboring states, Maryland and West Virginia–each a longtime haven for outdoorsmen–are taking very different approaches to youth hunting. If passed, this bill will have a devastating effect on recruiting young hunters and the future of wildlife conservation in Maryland, said Rob Sexton, USSA vice president for government affairs. The bill is a deliberate attempt to sabotage the future of hunting. Parents, not the government, are far more equipped to know when their sons and daughters are ready to hunt. House Bill 655 has been referred to the House Environmental Matters Committee in Maryland. The devastating effect Sexton mentions not only damages efforts to introduce youngsters to hunting, but it also will impact the states economy.
Is your credit union on the hunt for a new core processing system? If so, be aware that nobodys going to make it easy for you. In fact, sometimes theyll do quite the opposite. If vendors arent going to tell you what you want to know, who is? You are, but youll have to do a little digging. Dont accept proclamations at face value. Unearth some skeletons. And never lose sight of the way you want to serve your members, because thats why youre looking for a core processor in the first place.

Having a baby is one of the most joyous
occasions in life, and there are many different ways to celebrate the
event. Baby shower invitations experts, Custom Creations by Leslie ,
have fun baby shower tips to ensure the perfect baby shower.
“One of the most frequently asked questions regarding baby showers is
timing,” said Leslie Ciriaco of Custom Creations by Leslie. “If you have
the shower too close to the actual time of delivery, the mommy-to-be might
not enjoy it fully. However, holding it too early in the pregnancy wont
have the full impact. The shower should be held about a month or two before
the expected arrival of the baby, with baby
shower invitations sent out six to eight weeks prior to the event.”
There are many different fun themes for baby showers not limited to the sex
of the baby. Some ideas for baby shower themes include:
A new recent trend for baby showers is holding raffles. Attendees must
bring one package of baby diapers for each entry into the raffle, and the
winner gets a high-quality item such as a camera or an MP3 player. The
mommy-to-be gets to keep all of the diapers, and often doesnt have to buy
diapers for months after the baby is born. Be sure to specify what will be
raffled off on baby shower invitations to ensure lots of entries. In
addition, list the time, date, RSVP information and where the mommy-to-be
is registered on baby shower invitations as well.

You may pay only a fraction (as low as 10%) of what the property is worth when you buy it. Real estate has utility. If you buy stocks or bonds, you cannot do anything with them; but when you buy real estate, you can use it until you sell it. For example, you can live in a house.

Garrison Architects announced Salvatore Tranchina has joined the firm as a Project Architect and will focus on reinforcing the firms commitment to the art of construction and material innovation in the firms Hudson Square offices. Formerly a founding partner of Artifact Design + Construction, Tranchina decided to join the Garrison team in order to work with a well-reputed, established firm with talented team members on larger, more complex public and institutional projects. Mr. Tranchina received a Bachelor in Science in engineering from Swarthmore College and a Masters in Architecture from Columbias Graduate School of Architecture.
We often describe TRADOC as the architect of the future. That description is more than casual in that an architect designs buildings and superintends their construction much the way that TRADOC envisions future warfare, explains the capabilities required for the future and monitors the development of materiel. The architects special relationship between the client (user) and the engineer (the builder) is analogous to TRADOCs role representing the soldier during the capabilities development process. An architect must have a vision for the final construction; TRADOC has to lead the Army in articulating a vision of future warfare. An architect must bridge the world of art and science; TRADOC has to understand warfare as both an art and a science. The architect protects the interest of the client in the construction process; TRADOC preserves the integrity of the required specifications as materiel systems are developed. While the architect must understand both form and function, TRADOC must not only describe required capabilities, but also how they go together by means of doctrine to create synergy in joint and Army operations. Finally, while the architect (TRADOC) has the big picture, engineers (Army Staff, Army Materiel Command, the acquisition community and others) develop the blueprints from architectural drawings (concepts for future land power) to ensure our nation always has an Army prepared for the call to duty.

River Bend Inc., a new Spokane company, has bought a longtime North Side restaurant and lounge called The Bend Restaurant and plans to open a five-table gaming operation there this month if it receives approval from the Washington state Gambling Commission. Lynass says he expects the Gambling Commission to approve by the middle of this month River Bends request to operate three poker and two blackjack tables. The companys planned gaming operation, which is to be called The River Bend Casino, would occupy the second floor of the two-story, 4,500-square-foot building where The Bend Restaurant currently is located. The space on the second floor had been used sparingly for banquets and meetings. River Bend will operate a restaurant and lounge in most of the 3,000 square feet of space on the buildings main floor, continuing to use the name The Bend Restaurant. Lynass says River Bend hopes to expand the gaming operation later to 12 tables, but would need state approval to do so.
A number of executives in the states gaming industry attended the recent Global Gaming Expo (G2E) in Las Vegas where they saw the industrys latest products and technology. Chief among those presentations were server-based or downloadable game technology and electronic table games, both expected to have bright futures. Bill Fishman, director of slots at the Palace Casino Resort in Biloxi, attended the show and thinks the new technology is most definitely on the horizon. “Electronic versions of table games such as Texas Holdem Poker, Blackjack, Craps and Three Card Poker and more have beenaround for the last few years but have not been widely accepted in many of the larger gaming markets,” he said. “I believe that is beginning to change. At the gaming expo, almost all of the major slot manufacturers were displaying this new technology to the casino industry executives and members of the investment community.”

Garage storage is an $800 million retail business thats growing 10% a year. This is the fastest-growing area in home organization and storage, said Mike Franks, director of strategic planning at OSullivan Furniture. We all own a lot of stuff, and the garage has become the overflow valve for the rest of the house. Franks said OSullivans garage storage program licensed under the Coleman brand and carried at diverse retailers such as Lowes, Target, Pep Boys and Office Depot has sold phenomenally well since launched last fall. The whole system, including worktable, pegboard and cabinets, sells for less than $1,000. But the market is also strong for higher-end lines, such as Gladiator Garageworks by Whirlpool. Sauders answer to the Coleman line, for example, is a licensed Hot Rod Garage workshop organization system.
Appliance garages have little doors that flip up, open up, or roll up. They fit between base cabinets and wall cabinets, and theyre used to hide a coffeemaker, mixer, and other kitchen clutter. Its a great concept, except the garages usually take away valuable counterspace.Three, 25-inch-wide doors flip up and slide back out of the way on tracks. The tracks are a standard cabinet hardware item.)For extra countertop space and to accommodate a warming oven mounted below, the center portion of the base cabinet and counter is pulled forward an extra 4 inches.

The International Yacht Restoration School on the waterfront of Newport, Rhode Island, reports additional progress on its major restoration project, the last remaining luxury American yacht, Coronet, built in 1885. It is a longterm project and was mentioned in this column in April 1996.In the july 1938 issue of Country Life and the Sportsman, we learned that Coronet, 152 tons, began her illustrious career by defeating Dauntless in a mid-winter race from New York to Queenstown. She covered the 2905 miles in 14 days, 19 hours and three minutes and 14 seconds.Soon after that race she sailed around the world. That was followed with four voyages to Europe and two to the West Indies. The article also noted that Coronet was the first registered yacht to round Cape Horn from east to west. The item concluded, “She was a great ship and a brave one.” There is no question that the IYRS will make her a “great ship and a brave one.”

Easy IlluminationSinatra aside, nothing sets the mood better than candles. Pillars scented with cinnamon or vanilla make a living room extra cozy, and a few dozen tea lights are all it takes to make a party shine. Even small votives add ambience. Of course, candles do have annoying habits. They drip wax, refuse to stand up straight in holders, and emit lots of smoke. In a quest to conquer candle conundrums, we came up with a list of tips.Tis the season for lots of candlelight. Heres a checklist for all you need to know before you get glowing.
CandleCandles have also been used for religious purposes. The Bible, for instance, makes numerous references to the use of candles, including the story of King Solomon who, after building the Temple, used ten candle-sticks to light the north and south ends of the structure. In the Middle Ages, candlemaking became a popular occupation, as evidenced by the creation of many candlemakers guilds throughout Europe. Later, candles were used as a means of keeping time. At auctions, the bidding time was limited by inserting a pin into a candle and letting the wax melt until the pin dropped, thus concluding that period of time.
When entertaining outdoors, use candles, glass jars, and fresh cutting for a creative summery tablescape. To re-create this look, begin by gathering cream-colored candles and glass containers in various shapes and sizes. Include one or two large hurricane globes to cover tall pillar candles. Tie a few blades of beargrass around the necks of the jars, and tuck in flowering sprigs of bupleurum or dill. Use floating candles in several of the smaller jars, filling the containers partially with water. Short pillars and votives can rest inside other jars. Scatter the candles along the table, varying the heights. Mix in more glass containers with simple arrangements of dill, bupleurum, and lilies or other seasonal blooms. Beargrass jutting out from tall bottles gives height at one end of the table. You can also use jars for holding the flatware as well as linen napkins. Nestle in stacks of lightcolored plates and bowls, and play with the entire arrangement to create a flow from back to front. Add wine glasses to the tabletop, accompanied by a bottle of wine in a clear ice bucket or sparkling fruit juice in a glass pitcher.

This 45-minute webinar will clearly define sustainability from a consumer perspective and the key triggers that drive consumers to participate. Additionally, this presentation will reveal the current and emerging perceptions regarding sustainability, as well as the specific language used and understood. Lastly, the webinar will discuss the business practices influencing purchasing behavior, and guidelines for marketing and communicating sustainability efforts to the consumer.

Freight transport saw the volume of road freight transport drop in the third quarter of 2006 after three years of its robust growth. The volume of rail freight transport picked up by 4.2% in Q3, year on year, while the volume of road freight transport fell by 4.3%. International transport performed by freight vehicles registered in Slovenia decreased by just 0.8%, whereas transport within the country recorded a stronger drop of 16.1%. This was the first year-on-year quarterly fall of road freight transport since Q2 of 2003. Q3 of 2006 also witnessed a 10.2% fall in the volume of maritime freight transport. This activity registered the second consecutive year-on-year quarterly decrease, whereas in 2005 it still enjoyed robust growth (41.7%), driven by the boom in the industry. Harbour freight transport surged by 27.6% in Q3 and also recorded a high nine-month year-on-year increase (24.6%). Over the last five years, road freight transport surged by more than 50%, which was almost entirely due to the increase in international transport. In Q3 of 2006 over Q3 of 2001, road freight transport picked up by 56.5% or 1,003 million tonne kilometres (tkm). The shipment of goods out of or into Slovenia rose by 49.1% or 534 million tkm, whereas transport abroad and cabotage (the shipment of goods within another country) shot up 4.3-fold, i.e. by 450 million tkm. Meanwhile, national road freight transport increased by a modest 3.5%, or 19 million tkm. Within the EU, Slovenia is one of the few countries that perform the highest number of per capita road shipments (measured in tkm). The favourable transit position and the countrys smallness (a high share of international trade) underpin Slovenias high proportion of international transport, whose growth has been additionally boosted by the process of Slovenias integration in the EU. The last administrative barriers to carrying out freight transport abroad were removed as Slovenia became a full EU member, which led to the boom in activity seen in recent years.
TRANSPORTATIONTransportation systems move goods and people around the world. Physical distribution of goods is accomplished by various means: truck, railroad, airplane, ship or boat, and pipeline, or a combination of these methods. Surface and air transportation systems that are widely used to transport people include automobiles, bicycles, rail, air, ship or boat, bus, and rapid-transit systems.Railroads are a low-cost mode of transportation for large quantities of heavy and bulky items. Many of the trucks you see on the roads today are insured on one of three commercial auto insurance contracts: the truckers form, the motor carrier form or the business auto form. The truckers form is used for firms hauling only goods owned by others. The motor carrier form insures firms hauling both their own goods and the goods of others. The business auto form is used to cover firms hauling only goods that they own. The Insurance Services Office, Inc. (ISO), promulgates all three contracts. We will discuss the exclusions under the business auto policy and how to provide coverage for the excluded risks. To do so, we will consider several examples. In a fictitious example, MBF Corp.s (MBF) annual planning conference was going to be held at a mountain lodge. Conference attendees from all over the country would need to fly into a nearby town, rent four-wheel drive vehicles and drive about 20 miles to the lodge. The last five miles of the route required four-wheel drive vehicles because there was no pavement, only a trail created by vehicles driving over the mountain terrain. In spots, this trail was steep and in other places it was steeply slanted to one side or the other.

Santa Monica Homes For Sale
August 7th, 2008
WASHINGTON (AP) — Americans, worried about their jobs, bought fewer previously owned homes in July. But the level of sales remained healthy, suggesting that the housing market will continue to be a pillar of support for the struggling economy. Existing-home sales fell by 3 percent in July from the previous month to a seasonally adjusted annual rate of 5.17 million, the National Association of Realtors reported Monday. “Existing-home sales faded a touch in July, but dont even think that is an indicator that the housing market is finally starting to tank,” said economist Joel Naroff of Naroff Economic Advisors. “The level of activity can be unambiguously characterized as very strong.”
WASHINGTON (Bloomberg) — U.S. sales of new homes rose in October to the highest level in three months as low mortgage rates and stock market gains rejuvenated housing activity. “The market is going to remain as strong as its been, which is an incredibly healthy home buying market,” said Lori Steiner, senior vice president of marketing at Dominion Homes in Dublin, Ohio. A rebound of new home sales in the West accounted for the October increase, as sales fell in the other three regions. Including sales of previously owned homes, “the housing market is going to set a third consecutive record this year,” said David Berson, chief economist at Fannie Mae, the worlds leading buyer of single-family home mortgages. Home sales next year “will be extremely strong.”

Internet Marketing Business
August 5th, 2008
Not a day goes by without yet another article extolling the virtues of the Internet. An estimated 30 million worldwide users to date and more logging on every day. To the small business owner, the real question is, Where does the hype end and the reality begin? Is the Internet really a viable proposition for the traditional small business, normally constrained by lack of time, staff and money? 10 questions to ask yourself The best way to determine whether or not the Internet makes sense for your business is to apply a simple “yes” or “no” answer to 10 important marketing questions: 1. Do my clients require specific product information before they can buy my product/service? 2. Do I spend a majority of my time selling the benefits of my product only to be asked, “Can you send me more information?” 3. Is my long-distance phone bill more than $100 per month? 4. Have I lost business as a result of playing phone tag with a potential customer because I was unable to “sieze the moment?” 5. Would a new employee handling sales paperwork free me to increase my companys revenues? 6. Is there an international market for my product? 7. Does my product have a story to tell? 8. Am I spending more than 20 percent of every dollar I make on marketing-related expenses? 9. Would instant customer feedback benefit my business? 10. Would the ability to capture orders 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, help my business? If you answered “yes” to just one of these questions, you should at least explore the possibilities that Internet commerce can offer. If you answered “yes” to five or more, you should dedicate some serious time and resources to finding out how the Internet actually works (and how it can work for you). If you answered “yes” to eight or more of the questions, you need a fast-track education about the Internet before your competitors claim the medium for themselves. The smart small business owner will make plans to explore the Internet, find out what the Web can deliver and then formulate a strategy to exploit it. As Jeff Vick, Marketing Specialist at Creative Video explains, “The Internet will do to business in the 21st century what the telephone did to business in the 20th century.” The Web — How does it work? According to Vick, the Internet works well as a commercial sales tool for businesses that need to exchange information in order to specify a particular products size, color, model, price, etc. Multiple orders can be booked, billed and fulfilled through a simple response mechanism included on an Internet site. Much of this information can be communicated through the Web. While it is actually only one portion of the Internet, the Web serves as an extensive reference library that can provide any level of additional information about a particular subject, issue, item or product. As in a spiders web configuration, the Web provides an ever-increasing source of interlocking information about the subject in question. Simply point and click and you can dive deeper into additional layers of information. The Web also has certain features that make it ideal for marketing. It can display pictures and massive amounts of text about your product as well as send and receive order information while at the same time generating a receipt. If your product requires a lengthy explanation in order to communicate its benefits, the Web is the place to do it. Customers and prospects can view that information at their own pace — in many instances, via sophisticated video and audio commercials. Since were talking digital information here, there is very little difference between one word and one thousand words. And if you feel that youre spending too much time processing paperwork and not enough time selling, a well-designed Web page may be one of the potential keys to your businesses future success. How important is e-mail? An important byproduct of the Internet is e-mail, or electronic mail. Once you learn to use this valuable tool, youll wonder how you ever got along without it. Forget about what time it is, or whether its “worth a call” — with e-mail, it costs no more to send a message to Sydney that it does to Syracuse (the actual cost is about $1.00 an hour). And time zones become irrelevant as well. You and the recipient can view the messages at your convenience, thereby eliminating the dreaded game of telephone tag. So get serious! How does the smart business operator approach the formidable and intimidating task of investigating the Net? First, gather your thoughts as to what you would like your Web site to accomplish. Imagine that your customer can ask you anything he/she wants to know about your company and product — anything from product price to employee birthdays — and in no particular order. Analyze each possible scenario and list all the information relevant to it. Then, and only then, begin to organize the scenarios into a flow chart. Once you have the flow chart polished, try to find flaws in it. If your customer is browsing through the pricing section of your flow chart, will he/she be more interested in going to shipping next or reading your companys mission statement? After you feel that youve developed a solid grasp of the different portions of the business that youd like to present to your clientele, you are now ready to interview potential agencies who are skilled in creating Web pages. According to Vick, there are 3 questions you should ask a potential Web page creator: 1. Have you done this before? 2. Who have you done this for? 3. May I call them? While creating some Web pages may require the skills of a computer Ph.D., most will not, and there are competent companies in most major markets capable of accomplishing the task in a cost-effective fashion. Prices for creating a simple Web site can range from a low of $2,500 to high of $20,000. In fact, some of the Fortune 500 marketers have created sophisticated and complex Web pages that can literally run into the hundreds of thousands of dollars, and in some cases, the millions. But for the average small business, the investment will probably be in the $5,000 to $10,000 range. And remember, you must keep your Web site content fresh, or your prospects will have no reason to come back. Seeing your own World Wide Web site up and running on the Internet can be a proud moment for any business owner. It also can mean the start of a whole new way of doing business. It has the potential to increase productivity by extending operating time to a full 24 hours a day. But this will only happen if your business really needs this technology and can use it effectively. Evaluate your situation honestly. If its right for you, acquire it. If its not, save the money. And if you want to see what its all about, contact a Web creator and ask to see a demonstration. One picture is really worth 1,000 words. Alf Nucifora is an Atlanta based marketing consultant. He may be contacted by e-mail zubicon

Her skills were immediately recognized by patrons in Washington D.C. and the Miami area, where she accepted numerous important commissions. In 1999, Blanks career took a different turn, one that resembled that of the masters she studied for most of her life. Blank was commissioned to paint the ceiling of an 18th-century church in Old Montreal. For months, the artist worked day and night painting the cathedrals ceiling while standing on scaffolding five stories above the marble floor below.
